Understand
the power of your
Inner Strength
Throughout the history of Western civilization, architectural and furniture
embellishments have drawn on powerful elements found in nature. The lion found its
most revered position in the art and architecture of the Greco-Roman tradition. Ever
since then, the lions have been used to remind us of the lion-hearted bravery that so
many humans have desired to achieve. The lion has come to represent the greatest
symbol for majesty, protection and bravery. Imagine him in his natural habitat,
standing guard to all the many threats that abound in the wild.
Now let him be a tool for understanding the tremendous inner strength we possess by
virtue of being human. For we are unlike the lion who depends primarily upon
physical prowess and millions of years of evolutionary instinct. In contrast, human
strength goes well beyond the physical to find its heart in our mind's ability to build
wisdom. This enormous capacity for heightened consciousness, as symbolized by
the quartz crystal beads, allows us to draws insights from all of our past experiences.
In this way, the decisions we make about how we will live our life in the future will
benefit from this wisdom. And if we view each of our personal gifts as analogous to
the many powerful abilities of the lion, we can understand that each of us has a
unique pattern of personal potentials that we can choose to develop over the course
of a lifetime into mature capabilities. Still, life's fluctuating circumstances will always
challenge our abilties. And so, we need to extend kindness and gentleness toward
ourselves, as symbolized by the new jade (serpentine) stone from which the lion has
been hand-carved. Our gifts, nurtured to their fullfilment, will forever be more
powerful than the lion's. For our lives will make purposeful difference in the lives of
others and, in turn will allow us to discover the ultimate experience of human joy.
