Throughout the history of Western civilization, architectural and furniture
embellishments have drawn on powerful elements found in nature. The flower
blossom has been incorporated into design since the earliest times of most human
cultures. The flower marks the end of a stormy, cold winter and the beginning of new
growth in the sunshine of spring.
Just as the plant grows to produce elegant blooms as the sign of renewed growth,
every human being is prepared with potential to produce the blooms of a fulfilled life.
To better understand this inherent beauty in all human beings, we can make a
metaphor between flowers and the growth of our own individual gifts and talents.
If we view each of our personal gifts as analogous to the opening of a flower, we each
have a unique pattern of personal potentials. These can flower over the course of a
lifetime, if we weather the storms of life and reach to bring ourselves to potential as
soon as the clouds clear the sky.
The faceted rock quartz crystal beads represent our truly human ability to draw
insights from all of our past experiences. In this way, the decisions we make about
how we will live our life in the future will benefit from this wisdom. Still, life's
fluctuating circumstances will always challenge our abilties. And so, we need to
extend kindness and gentleness toward ourselves, as symbolized by the new jade
(serpentine) stone from which this flower has been hand-carved.
Our gifts, flowering to full bloom will forever be more beautiful than all the flowers on
our earth. For our lives will make purposeful difference in the lives of others and, in
turn will allow us to discover the ultimate experience of human joy.
