Personal Expressions Collection
Asian culture is rich with symbols. These time-honored images
can remind us of life’s most important values. Most well recog-
nized is the Shou (the center golden stone) which serves as a
metaphor for long life and prosperity. Like the Shou, so many
others can speak to relationships, love, and abundance. I hope to
extend and translate these symbols for relevance in today’s world.
Ever since Marco Polo introduced the rich treasures of the East
to Europe, Asian symbolism has become world-wide in its
reach. East-West fusion design aesthetics bring added dimension
and meaning to help create living environments that promote
peace, a sense of security, and respect for the home as the ultim-
ate sanctuary in which we can renew ourselves. -Barbara
