The two ship-like pieces are in the shape
of ancient Chinese coins and symbolize
the material and physical world in which

changes. The double fish represents a
couple in love, which brings a prosperity
to life that surpasses any pleasures we
can derive from our material possessions.
The circular rings represent the growth
and unity that we can achieve when we
live purposely, and integrate both the
physical and spiritual aspects of our
beings. The
Shou
symbols carved on the
jet beads and quartz crystal recall our
shared human goals for long life and
prosperity. For when we live holistically -
we enjoy a life that is both good & grand.
In ancient China, a carving like the large
central medallion was placed on the
home's doors behind the handle. The
hand-carving depicts dragons who were
there to assure the safety and protection
of the home and its inhabitants. The myth
of the dragon centers on the protection
provided by the spring rains that have the
power to extinguish harmful fires. You can
choose to use this symbol to remind
yourself that your home is your sanctuary
- that special place where you gather
loved ones into a retreat from the
business of our world, for it is home that
we best replenish our authentic selves.
